FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you don’t find the answer to your questions here, reach out to us! We are happy to help.

How long will registration be open?
Registration will remain open until all student spaces are filled or until June 15th, whichever comes first.

Is there financial aid available?

As our camps are supported by our registered nonprofit, our financial aid offerings are directly affected by donation and external support. This means that financial aid options vary from year to year. This year we are happy to announce that we will be able to sponsor the tuition of 2 students and one family’s attendance. If you are interested in more information regarding this, feel free to reach out to us directly.

If you would like to help us support more young musicians in the future, a great place to start is our ‘Empower’ page.

Are there payment plan options?
Yes, for a small fee of $25 we will be offering a payment plan for your convenience. To secure registration, a fee of $125 per person and 25% of the total bill will be required at the time of registration. All subsequent payments, depending on the registration date, will be set up in 25% chunks, with the final installment due by May 8th. Monthly invoices will be sent. Please contact us if interested in registering with a payment plan.

Do I need to attend camp with my child?
Children at our Institute are expected to register with a suitable parent or guardian, however, our campers at Practice Pathways generally attend independently. Guardians in attendance at the institute are expected to be present at their child’s masterclasses and group classes in order to assist with practicing

(Exception: Practice Pathways students and students level Book 7 and up who are age 13 or above and independent note-takers).

For tips and advice regarding packing, practice, and general preparation, check out our Pre-Camp Information page.

What are my housing options?
As you register your family for OWMSI, you'll find a designated section on the registration form where you can make specific housing requests. A request may include preference to stay close-by to other families or to stay in a particular cabin. When creating housing assignments, we are careful to try to accommodate all requests, but can not guarantee, based on availability.

Available upgraded housing is away from the main campus. It is available for an additional cost and will need to be coordinated directly with the Ogontz Resort. If interested please email: info@ogontzwhitemountains.com.

Will Camp Ogontz cater to my dietary requirements?
At Ogontz, we sit down together as a community for three delicious meals a day, many prepared using vegetables, eggs, and other ingredients grown and produced on Ogontz property. Vegetarian, gluten-free and other diets are accommodated to the extent possible. There will be a form available via our online registration, to specify any allergies or food requirements.

What is your refund policy?
In the event that you decide to cancel your registration, please email us. The $125 registration fee per person is non-refundable. If we are notified in writing before May 8th, tuition, food and housing is refundable. Families who withdraw after June 1st will forfeit all fees.

LESSONS AND PERFORMANCES

What is a Masterclass?
Daily lessons are taught in the “master class” style and are one of the most valuable experiences at OWMSI. The students will be in a group of 3-4 students, depending on level, and will meet with their teacher each day. The student will work with the teacher in front of the small group and will observe the other students and learn alongside their peers.

What are group classes?
Group classes are an integral component of our program. Regardless of skill level, every student will participate in a daily group class, where they will join peers at a similar level. These classes not only provide a platform for students to perform Suzuki pieces but also foster a sense of community and collaboration. As part of this experience, students may also receive additional pieces to learn, further enhancing their ensemble skills.

What are chamber ensembles?
The chamber ensemble program is open to violin and viola students Suzuki book 5+ and cello and bass students Suzuki book 4+. Each quartet will meet daily and be coached by an experienced faculty member. To maximize their experience, students will receive their music in advance, allowing them to arrive at camp well-prepared, familiar with their parts, and ready to practice as an ensemble. By the end of the program, students will have the opportunity to showcase their hard work with a performance on day 5.

Will there be performances?
Yes! Performing is an integral part of camp and the Suzuki philosophy. Students participating in group class, orchestra and/or chamber will have concerts towards the end of camp. Extra curricular classes will also have a chance to perform. In addition, we also have daily student recitals and everyone is welcome to present their polished piece with one of our pianist accompanists.
